Are you dreaming of a winter holiday in the Dolomites? Well, then you better wake up and book yourself a holiday at our Hotel am Anger in Santo Stefano/Stefansdorf. The free ski bus stops about 50 metres from our house, taking you directly to the valley station of South Tyrol’s ski mountain no. 1. Besides, the ski resort offers access to the largest ski carousel in the world, Dolomiti Superski: 1 lift pass for 12 ski resorts, 1,200 perfectly prepared slope km and 28 snow parks. Surely it doesn’t have to be full moon to hike up to Haidenberg restaurant. If you are going on any other evening of the month, a headlamp could certainly also do the trick. But the atmosphere around full moon is one of a kind. So try to pick a date around full moon. Dress warm (and water proof) and start walking. The trail starts at the parking area a bit above Santo Stefano/Stefansdorf and leads about one hour uphill right across the forest to the Haidenberg mountain restaurant, the starting point for this natural toboggan run. Depending on the time of your ascent, make sure to look out for potential tobogganers on the way! Once you have reached the restaurant, warm up in the cosy bar (with disco!), before hopping onto the sledge (for hire directly at the restaurant) and cruising back down to the valley. Tip: there is a possibility to drive up to the mountain restaurant upon request!
If you are planning to spend your winter holiday in the Dolomites before Christmas, we recommend you to visit the magical Christmas market in Brunico/Bruneck. Here you are welcomed with lovely Christmas songs, Christmas trees decorated with golden and silver angel hair and sparkling Christmas stars – available as decoration or culinary delight. The scent of cinnamon is in the air and stall sellers with red cheeks offer their handmade merchandise for sale. Take in this unique atmosphere and take part in one of the torch walks or bell-ringing sleigh rides and enjoy the bright faces all around.
In the evening, you may discover the other side of a ski- and winter holiday in the Dolomites: partying after an eventful day on the slopes. Follow the colourful party lights and the sound of happy music and soon you have reached your destination: a rustic ski hut or other party location. This special entertainment is called après-ski and is almost a must during a ski holiday in the mountains. Treat yourself to a creamy Snow White (a sweet hot drink with egg liquor and cream), a hot wine or a punch and celebrate your holidays in the Dolomites accordingly!
